On the morning of July 18, 2019, Thursday I called this Schumacher model home location, in an attempt to make a appointment to see one of the model homes. The man I spoke to said I didn't have to make an appointment, I could just come in. The man said they closed at 6pm that day, but online the location hours say open until... This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback. The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I just looked at the current base price and it is up 10%+ since I built . As I mentioned above, my upgrades and changes added 60%+ to base... This is where the itemization and detail work comes into play. We did not go over budget/contract by one nickel.

Install the drain tiles in the inside and the outside of the foundation walls , and install the gravel along the outside of the foundation and footers along the walkout portion of the house. After further investigating the mess removed from the shower, we noticed that although they did take the cheap route, a waterproof cover was used. We still have water damage behind the walls, but we don't foresee the company doing anything at this point.

We paid an extra $800 to have the stairwell fully finished with oak treads, drywall, paint...I thought that was an amazing bargain! We could never have done that ourselves let alone for that price. I would definitely recommend finishing the basement staircase/stairwell; it also allows you to have a “normal” door instead of the fire rated door as access to the first floor living space . So now the door accessing the first floor can look just like all your other doors.
This company relies on local subs and is only as good as the ones they use. We worked with 3 managers and 4 contractors. The first manager was a sales person they made a construction manager. The first contractor was okay but more concerned about his own clients than Schumachers. All homes are constructed with materials which may be left out in the rain.
Schumacher underbids the sub work so your cost ends up higher than anticipated, this also puts more profit in their pockets. I wish I had seen this site and the other input before I started building with them. The windows leak air, house is always cold in the winter hot in the summer, you can stand by the windows and feel the air coming thru lowest grade window you can buy. Siding is buckling on the house where the electric meter is due to they didn't put a slip on the conduit,. Sewer smell in main bathroom do to improper venting, interior doors have tight jam...
